Baytown sits right on Galveston Bay, with the high water table and storm exposure that come with building that close to open water.
Close to the bay and the island, the water table sits high and sometimes very high. That changes the job. Groundwater can push into an open excavation while the crew is working, so dewatering becomes part of the build rather than an afterthought, and a finished pool needs a working hydrostatic relief valve so pressure underneath it has somewhere to go. That valve is what stops an empty pool from lifting out of wet ground, which is the single most expensive thing that can go wrong down here. Sandy fill and storm surge exposure are the other two things that separate a coastal build from an inland one.

Building a pool in Baytown
Can a pool pop out of the ground in Baytown?
It can, and a high water table is why. An empty or drained pool in saturated ground is a large hollow object with water pressing up underneath it, and without a path for that pressure to escape the shell can lift. A hydrostatic relief valve gives it that path. This is the reason draining a pool here is something to do deliberately and with advice, not casually.
Does groundwater make a Baytown pool build harder?
It makes the excavation harder. Water entering an open hole has to be pumped out and managed while the steel is tied and the shell is shot, so dewatering is part of the plan rather than a surprise. It is normal work near the coast; it just needs to be priced and scheduled rather than discovered on the day.
